Brev til Kurdistans premierminister, Nechirvan Barzani
Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani
Kurdistan Regional Government
Hawler
Kurdistan
Dear Prime Minister,
We write this letter with the all the best wishes for you and your efforts to creating a democratic and prosperous society in Kurdistan.
We from the Kurdish Forum in Denmark are members of an organisation that is concerned about the situation of the Kurds in Denmark and elsewhere.
We are especially concerned about the situation of the 150 Kurdish rejected asylum seekers many of whom have been living under subhuman conditions for many years in the Danish refugee camps. Many of these refugees are elderly people and minors.
The Danish government is negotiating with your government and the government in Baghdad with the aim of making it possible to send these refugees to Iraq by force. Until now they have sent three refugees by force and according to the information that has reached us, that this was accepted by your administration.
We cannot believe, that your administration would put up with such an act and absolutely not with your positive accept. These forcible returns of refugees are a strategy from the side of the Danish authorities and constitute a threat against the asylum seekers, who are not able or ready to go back to their local community.
On behalf of the Kurdish and Iraqi asylum seekers in Denmark we hereby ask you to make sure, that your administration doesn’t cooperate with the Danish authorities and against international legal standards accept forcible returns of asylum seekers. And so we hope that your administration will not in the future accept the forcible returning of refugees either individually or as a whole group.
If the Prime Minister wishes more detailed information we would be more than willing to make it available. Looking forward to receiving your positive answer and good news for the Kurdish refugees.
Yours sincerely
Kurdish Forum, Denmark
